About me
I’m Jon — a developer who cares deeply about the software I build and the people who use it.
How I work
I build software the way I’d want it built for me: thoughtful, focused, and free of unnecessary friction. I tend to start from user needs — what does this person actually need to accomplish, and what’s the cleanest way to get them there?
I’ve always been the kind of developer who scratches their own itch. My task management app, Tasks, started because nothing I tried quite worked the way my brain does. Building something you use every day is one of the best design schools there is — every rough edge becomes immediately obvious.
Building for people who need it most
Some of the most meaningful work I’ve done is in health tech. Bolus is a bolus insulin calculator for people with diabetes — an app where precision genuinely matters, because getting insulin dosing wrong has real consequences. Building it meant doing serious domain research, thinking carefully about edge cases, and designing for users who are often managing a stressful, complex condition every single day.
Tides is a companion app for people on peritoneal dialysis — a form of kidney dialysis that patients do at home, multiple times a day, every day. It’s one of the most technically and emotionally challenging things I’ve built. The users are managing a life-sustaining treatment. The app has to be reliable, simple, and genuinely helpful — not clever, not flashy. Just there when you need it.
Building these apps has shaped how I think about software in general. Every user has a context you can’t fully see. Good software makes space for that.
What I’m looking for
I’m actively looking for my next role. I’m particularly drawn to teams that build products people depend on — whether that’s health tech, productivity tools, or anything where quality and user experience genuinely matter. I work well in environments where there’s room to think carefully, move deliberately, and take ownership of what I build.
I’m open to full-time roles, contract work, or interesting collaborations. If something I’ve built resonates with you, I’d love to hear from you.
